The Full Story

The Birth of the Nova-Sister Clinics

Natalie Jones has been a practicing nurse for over 20 years, and a family business owner for the past 5. Starting off as a medical secretary, she has worked in various different settings such as: long-term care, acute care, oncology, emergency room, urgent care, and primary care; making her experience vast.

Working in these settings invited awareness of differing care experiences based on race, gender, and age. Through an intersectional lens, Natalie's empathy for underserved patients and personal experience were two of the driving forces behind opening a family practice and urgent care.

Natalie's husband, Harold Jones II, a North Tulsa Native, has first-hand knowledge of the decline of the North Tulsa community through the years. Dreaming to restore the once family-oriented, bustling community riddled with Black-owned businesses, the couple decided a change needed to be made.

NovaStar Family Medicine was opened and began serving the community during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic; a terrifying and shifty moment for the nation. Since then, NovaExpress Urgent Care was opened, and both clinics have served the North side, slowing healing the health gap between North Tulsa and the rest of the metro area.
